Join us on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 6:00 PM for the last Del Cid Lecture until the Fall Season. The event will feature a Klatsch and Conversation session, followed by a lecture that will be initiated at 6:30 PM.

The lecture will focus on the topic of "Saving the New Orleans French Quarter; The Threats of Modern Architecture and Planning, and The Effort of the City to Preserve its Architectural Heritage." This topic is particularly relevant as many cities in the United States face similar threats to their architectural heritage due to changing trends in architecture and planning.

During the lecture, we will explore the challenges faced by New Orleans in preserving its cultural environment, particularly in the wake of the appearance of Interstate Highways and other modern developments. We will delve into the efforts made by the city to safeguard its unique architectural heritage, and how these efforts have succeeded in preserving the French Quarter, one of the most historic and culturally significant areas of New Orleans.
