Our Story

The Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Arts Center is the keystone of the public arts community in Ocean Springs. Affectionately known around town as The Mary C, it is located in the historic 1927 Ocean Springs Public School Building located in downtown Ocean Springs.

The Center provides a diverse set of programs and facilities for the arts. The beautiful lobby area houses the spectacular 1937 WPA tile murals painted by James McConnell Anderson, fired by Peter Anderson and now lovingly restored and protected. Inside the Cultural Center, you’ll find two art galleries featuring beautiful local artwork and the Ocean Springs History Museum. The Trent Lott Performing Arts Theatre is available for performances and meetings. With 383 seats, the Theatre accommodates concerts, plays, musicals, recitals, and town meetings. The Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Arts Center also offers seven other rooms throughout the center for workshops or gatherings!

Partners

Made up of creative entrepreneurs, these partners provide and teach a diverse set of programs, put on original events, and are our consultants when needed. We also partner with larger groups as well, such as the Ocean Springs Art Association or the Mississippi Gulf Coast Gem & Mineral Club. These partners and groups have made a room in the Mary C their home, and a place for their group to meet and conduct workshops.
