Our Story

The Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Arts Center is the keystone of the public arts community in Ocean Springs. Affectionately known around town as The Mary C, it is located in the historic 1927 Ocean Springs Public School Building located in downtown Ocean Springs.

The Center provides a diverse set of programs and facilities for the arts. The beautiful lobby area houses the spectacular 1937 WPA tile murals painted by James McConnell Anderson, fired by Peter Anderson and now lovingly restored and protected. Inside the Cultural Center, you’ll find two art galleries featuring beautiful local artwork and the Ocean Springs History Museum. The Trent Lott Performing Arts Theatre is available for performances and meetings. With 383 seats, the Theatre accommodates concerts, plays, musicals, recitals, and town meetings. The Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Arts Center also offers seven other rooms throughout the center for workshops or gatherings!

Made up of creative entrepreneurs, these partners provide our programming and are usually our instructors as well. Partners can also be consultants, put on events, or are part of a larger group, such as the Ocean Springs Art Association or Gem & Mineral Club. These groups have made a room in the Mary C their home and place for their group to meet and have workshops.
